Project Linus Bakersfield, CA Serving Kern County
About
Welcome to the website for Project Linus Bakersfield, CA Chapter Serving Kern County. I am Kim Linder and I am the Chapter Coordinator for Project Linus in our area. Project Linus has been in existence nationwide for more than 20 years with over 350 chapters. Our chapter in Kern County started as of December 2005. Project Linus is a volunteer organization that is devoted to helping comfort children.
Our local chapter was named the Chamber of Commerce Humanitarian Group of the year for both 2007 and 2008.
Our mission is to provide love, a sense of security, warmth and comfort to children who are seriously ill, traumatized, or otherwise in need through the gifts of new, handmade blankets and afghans, lovingly created by volunteer "blanketeers". It is also is an opportunity for interested individuals and groups in local communities to come together for the benefit of children.
Our local chapter has donated more than 46,093 blankets to children in our local community since we started our chapter in 2005. Please join us each week and make blankets for children in our local communities. All blankets stay in the local communities unless there is a disaster and we have the resources to help the children in the other areas.
